South San Francisco Louis P. Guaraldi Food Basket Program Needs Your Help To Nourish Local Families This Holiday Season

 

Since 1981, the South San Francisco Young Men’s Institute (YMI), in association with the Kiwanis Club of SSF, SSF Host Lions Club, South San Francisco Scavenger Company and various community organizations and volunteers have participated in the annual Louis P. Guaraldi Food Basket Program to benefit local families during the holidays. Last year, more than 3,000 pounds of food was donated to provide food boxes with over a week’s worth of food including meat, eggs, milk, fresh produce and dry & canned goods to over 300 local families.

SSF Lobster Feed Fundraiser raises funds for local youth - 10/06/2012

Did you go to the lobster feed on Sept. 22 that the Boys & Girls Clubs and Kiwanis Club of South San Francisco put on? If so, you contributed to $14,000 raised to support local youth.

At September's event, about 175 guests attended for a meal of Maine lobster, prawns, sausage, artichokes and corn on the cob. More than 100 Bay Area businesses donated raffle prizes and auction items.

The Kiwanis, Key Club and other volunteers rocked the Orange Park baseball fields this weekend. - 04/30/2012

Volunteers from the Kiwanis Club of South San Francisco, San Francisco State, the El Camino and South San Francisco High School Key Clubs and the community gathered Saturday at the Orange Memorial Park baseball fields to paint bleachers and spread gravel to level the field in anticipation of the Junior Giants summer season.

SSF Kiwanis Awarded 10/11 Club Service Achievement Award (Emerald) - 03/04/2012

CONGRATULATIONS to the Kiwanis Club of SSF – For the third year in a row, we have been awarded the Club Service Achievement Award (Emerald Section)! This year we received the award for 2010/11 service project and means that our service projects were selected as the best projects in California-Nevada-Hawaii District based on our club size. We were recognized and received a check for $1,500 from the Kiwanis California-Nevada-Hawaii District Foundation at the Kiwanis Mid-Year Conference in Monterey on March 3, 2012.

Santa Comes to Town - 12/04/2011

With Christmas weeks away, Santa Claus and his North Pole crew made an appearance at South San Francisco City Hall today.

Throughout the day, as many as four hundred kids waited in a line that stretched down an entire block, crossing Walnut Street. It took some dedicated children over an hour to get their moment with St. Nick and to deliver their present requests in person.
